Majestic Kauri Trees are still the heart of our NZ native forest.. sadly they were over logged by the pioneer settlers as forests were destroyed here to make way for farming. It's the hidden tragedy in NZ's ecological history our green fields were once Rain Forest. There are those here who would still log the native forests for money.
Now we have great national parks where the rain forests are preserved but our green fields serve as a reminder or the forest clearance.
How much of your the worlds rain forest do we have left?
